Privacy policy

How Calorie Correct handles your data. Plain language. No legalese where we can avoid it.

Last updated: May 6, 2026

The short version: we keep what we need to make the app work, we don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers, and we never train AI models on your conversations. You can export or delete everything any time.

What we collect

Stuff you log

Weights, meals, exercises, water, notes, and chat messages with Cal. This is the data the app exists to track. It's stored on your device by default. If you sign in, a copy is also stored on our servers so you can use Calorie Correct on multiple devices.

Account information

If you create an account, we store your email address and a display name. We use Google OAuth or email magic links — we never see or store passwords.

Profile and goals

Height, age, sex, activity level, target weight, and target rate of loss. These are used to calculate your calorie targets and personalize Cal. Nothing else.

Technical basics

To run a website we have access to standard server logs (IP address, browser type, request timestamps). We don't run third-party analytics that profile you, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no advertising trackers.

What we don't collect

How we use it

Your data is used to make Calorie Correct work for you specifically. That means:

Cal and the Claude API

Cal is powered by Anthropic's Claude. When you send a message to Cal, that message — along with relevant context like your recent meals and goals — is sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic processes the request and returns a response.

Per Anthropic's commercial terms, Anthropic does not train its models on data sent through the API. We don't pass your conversations to any other party.

What we don't do

Cookies and storage

The app uses your browser's local storage to keep your data on-device. If you sign in, we set a secure session cookie so you stay logged in. We don't use cookies for cross-site tracking.

Your rights

You can:

Children

Calorie Correct is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, please email us and we'll remove the account.

Changes

If we change this policy meaningfully, we'll update the "last updated" date and notify signed-in users by email.
